EU-China Journalism Award

The Huawei-sponsored award is now open to entries

Huawei is sponsoring a new award to promote excellence in the reporting of constructive Europe-China relations.

The EU-China Journalism Award, which opened to entries on 1 October, is part of a series of awards launched by the Press Club Brussels Europe, as part of its Presidency of the International Association of Press Clubs from 2018 to 2020.

There are two categories of awards to be handed out by the end of this year: one for the written press, including online; and another for broadcast media (TV and radio stations). The prize for each winner will be €1000.

The jury that will decide on the award is broadly composed and consists of the following members: a representative of the EU-China Friendship Group in the European Parliament; an official from the EU’s External Action Service; and representatives from the Council of Europe, International Federation of Journalists, International Association of Press Clubs, and Chinese Mission to the EU.

A ceremony to present the awards will take place early next year. Applications close on 15 November 2019. For more information, consult the Press Club Brussels Europe website.
